  • The Broadway Subway is only planned to extend 5.7 km, less than half the distance from the current VCC-Clark terminus toUBC 
  • Extension of the Broadway Subway to UBC has not been costed or budgeted

  • land requirements have NOT been determined

Not be finished on time

  • Every skytrain project to date has not been completed on time, except for the Canada Line, which took seven years to build

Provide excessive capacity in one corridor

  • The Broadway Subway is projected to have an initial capacity of 7000 passengers per hour in each direction (pphpd)
  • Current demand in the corridor is around 2200 passengers per hour in each direction
  • Upgrades to increase subway to an ultimate capacity of 15,000 pphpd have not been costed or budgeted

Not address falling ridership due to COVID 19 and changing work and learning patterns

  • Transit ridership down as much as 95% due to COVID 19
  • No certainty as to when transit ridership will recover
  • Many commuters now working at home, and may continue to do so
